Holy Nativity Church, Matunga.

In Matunga, Bombay there is an area where industrial workers reside and it is popularly known as labour Camp. A number of Christian families belonging to the lower income group live here for whom Rev. William had constructed  a small Church in the year 1925. Over a period of time the condition of the Church structure deteriorated and space became too small for the increasing members of the community.  A proposal was presented  to the Board of Directors of The BDTA with a request  to replace the falling Church structure with a new Church building.

 The The BDTA Board sanctioned this project and within a period of one month the new church building was erected. The inauguration of the new Church building was done by the Rt. Rev (Dr) S. Vattappara Metropolitan, Anglican Church of India on 1st June 2002 in the presence of a big gathering of clergy and worshippers.  

A procession was taken out on the road of Matunga consisting of men, women, children & Clergy, Metropolitan Vattappara, Hon Minister Eknath Gaikward, Government of Maharashtra, Civic leaders & The BDTA  Directors /Trustees. 

Regular worship in Marathi is conducted in the Church following Anglican Order of worship Marriages, confirmation and Ordination services were conducted in the church. The Trust Association has incurred an expense of Rs. 22 lakhs towards the construction of this Church and furnishing it with marble altar pulpit  &  electrical fittings.
